Today's CVS Experience and Questions for You

I made it to CVS for the first time this week - today. I was hoping to pick up the Zegerid, but of course, they were out and I had to get a raincheck. I ended up just getting the 6 SoBe drinks:

6 SoBe Lifewater (pg. 16) 20 oz. B1G1 ($1.69/1) $1.69/2
- 3 B1G1 SoBe Lifewater PrintablePrintable = FREE

In PA, there is no sales tax. So I owed nothing. Unfortunately, the cashier "scanned" my green bag tag and hit total (or whatever button they hit next), only to realize that he hadn't really scanned the green bag tag. So, I won't be getting the green bag scan for today. The lesson I learned was to always give the green bag tag first (not at the end of the transaction).

Now for the questions I have for you:

1. At the end of my receipt 3 CVS coupons printed out. The first was for $5 off any purchase of $15 or more (exp. 8/22/10). I want to know if everyone received coupons like this too? Did anyone not recieve this coupon?

2. The second coupon to print was for $0.50 off one Green bag tag (exp. 9/2/10). Did everyone recieve this coupon? Did you scan your green bag tag and still get this coupon? Or did I get it because my green bag tag didn't get scanned?

3. The third coupon was for $4 off any Huggies Jeans Diapers (exp. 9/2/10). Again, did everyone get this coupon?

Huggies Jeans Diapers on sale this week for $8.99/1
- $4/1 Huggies Jeans Diapers CVS coupon (may print out at end of receipt) = $4.99/1
- $2.50/1 Huggies Little Snugglers or Little Movers Diapers Printable = $2.49/1
[or $1.50/1 Huggies Little Movers/Snugglers, exp. 9-18-10 (SS 8/22/10)]

Thanks for your help. This will allow me to put together transaction scenarios that are better for everyone.  - Erin

I'd love to be able to share your successes with everyone. I know that I always love to see how other people are doing. It helps to keep me motivated.

  1. Hey Erin.

I will try to answer your 3 questions as best as I can.

I didn't receive any of the coupons you did. I have read on some other blogs over the years that it seems that the more you shop at CVS, the less you receive CVS coupons. I am seeing that more and more with my own shopping there (since I have been doing it for a few years).

As far as the green bag tag not scanning from the cashier - one item has to be scanned first, then the green bag tag at any point after that. This does seem to be an ongoing issue with cashiers forgetting to scan it or thinking they already did. I try to remember right away and get them to scan it after the first item (can't be scanned first because the system will only recognize it after another item is scanned, otherwise people would just go into the store and scan their green tag without buying anything and get credit for it; makes sense).

It might be hard to do scenarios since the coupon machine and coupons on the receipts are so 'random'. But, I applaud your effort.

    Thanks again.

Thanks for the feedback. I will start to make a point of giving the green bag tag after the first coupon is scanned.

So, CVS does not give everyone the same coupons . . . That does make things more interesting and harder to put together deals ('cause everyone has to find some of their own deals . . . maybe)

I'm so used to doing scenarios for RA (and I need scenarios) that it just made sence to do them for CVS too. I might give up on it in a couple of months, but for now I'll give it my best shot. . . . Maybe I can figure out a better system for CVS. . .
