Newspaper Insert Coupons for 1/3/10

This Sunday there are supposed to be 2 SmartSource, 1 General Mills, and 2 Red Plum coupon inserts in the paper. That's 5!! For those that get the Red Plum in the mail (and didn't get 2 this week), expect to recieve an extra Red Plum next week.

I personally plan on getting more copies of the newspaper than normal this week due to the high volume of coupons in the Sunday paper. (Normal for me is 5 papers.)

NOTE: You may be missing some of these coupons as regional coupon inserts differ slightly. Also, your inserts may contain these coupons but the values may be slightly different.

Rite Aid 12/27/09 to 1/2/10

Rite Aid is my favorite store this week!! There appear to be many great deals with all the B1G1 offers. However, until I go to the store myself, I will not know prices of many of the items - so I'll be doing a little guess work.

Purchase #1 (possibly #2 - see NOTE below)

6 Cover Girl Clean liquid/powder makeup (pg. 1) B1G1 (around $6.59/1) - 6 $1/1 (11/29/PG - exp. 12/31/09) = $13.77
- 3 $2 SCR (limit 5) = $7.77/6 (You might be able to get the SCR on the FREE items, but I am not confident of this. If so, 5 $2 SCRs would = $3.77/6)

2 BeneVia (pg. 7) 8 oz. 4 pk. B1G1 ($8.99/1) - 2 $5/1 (11/14/SS; Printable) = make $1.01
- 2 $2 (Rite Aid Dec. Video Values coupon) = make $5.01

Total before coupons = $28.76
- $5/25 Printable (or $5/20 Rite Aid Video Values coupon)
- $20 (in MFC and Rite Aid Video Values coupons)
Total OOP = $3.76 + tax
- $6 SCR (or $10 SCR if you are able to collect on all 5 Cover Girl makeups)
Make $2.24 - tax (or make $6.24 - tax)

NOTE: If the 6 Cover Girl makeups qualify you for the 5 SCR's only do this transaction 1 time. If not do this transaction twice.
NOTE: $2/1 WellnessCoupons can also be used for the Cover Girl makeup. These can be combined with the MFC coupons. If these are used then the total after 6 MFC and 6 Wellness coupons would be $1.77. Subtract the SCR and you are making money. Note however, that if you use Wellness coupons, your total OOP cost will be -$8.24. You MUST add on at least $8.24 to your total to be able to complete your transaction and have a $0 OOP. This would give you a profit of $6 to $10.

Purchase #2

1 Crest toothpaste twin pack (pg. 2) $4.49/1 - $1/1 (12/6/RP) = $3.49/1
- $1.75 SCR = $1.74

- $2 SCR = FREE

1 Crest toothpaste (pg. 2) $2.49 - $1/1 (12/6/RP; 12/27/PG) = $1.49
- $1 SCR = $0.49/1

1 Colgate 360 toothbrush (pg. 5) $2.49 - $0.75/1 (Printable) = $1.74

6 SoyJoy bars (pg. 5) 1.06 oz. $0.60/1 ($3.60/6) - 3 B1G1 (11/1/SS - exp. 12/31/09) = $1.80/6
- $3 SCR = make $1.20

1 Kotex (pg. 5) $2.99 ($1/1 coupons were in several home mailers and in All You Oct. '09)
- $2 SCR = $0.99/1

2 BeneVia (pg. 7) 8 oz. 4 pk. B1G1 ($8.99/1) - 2 $5/1 (11/14/SS; Printable) = make $1.01
- 2 $2 (Rite Aid Dec. Video Values coupon) = make $5.01

Total before coupons = $30.05
- $5/25 (Printable) (or $5/20 Rite Aid Video Values coupon)
- $21.55 (in MFC and Rite Aid Video Values coupons)
Total OOP = $3.50 + tax
- $9.75 SCR
Make $6.25 - tax

NOTE: $1/1 WellnessCoupon can also be used for any oral care item. These can be combined with the MFC coupons. If these are used then the total OOP after 4 Wellness coupons would be -$0.50. Add at least a $0.50 candy bar to bring your total OOP to $0. This would give you a profit of $9.75 after SCR.

Who Cares about Christmas Anyway?

It seems everyone does! There are those who say "Merry Christmas" and others who say "Happy Holidays." Still others say "Happy Hannakuh" or even "Happy Kawanza." Does anyone really say "Seasons Greetings?"

Whatever greeting one gives, we cannot remove from our mind what December 25th celebrates.

About 2,010 years ago a Jewish boy was born to a virgin in a filthy stable in the town of Bethlehem. The Lord of all heaven and earth became a man. He lived a perfect life, with no sin. . . He then died on a Roman cross at the age of 33. He bore the sins of all mankind on that cross and then rose three days later from the dead!

Whatever greeting one gives during the month of December; there is no escaping the reality that one day, not so far in the future, we will all come face to face with Jesus Christ. . . And on that day, all that will matter will not be the question of whether or not Christ is in Christmas, but whether or not He is in you.

Have a Merry Christmas!

Scott ---Erin's husband, who is not a couponer, but learning to appreciate them. :-)

Why not start worshiping your Creator now? The Christmas story in Luke Chapter 2 is a great place to start reading to find out how He desires to be worshiped.

Rite Aid's Coupon Policy and Manufacturer's Coupons

I recently had a great comment from a reader that I wanted to share as others may encounter a similar situation at some point in time.

Hi,

I appreciate all the work involved in reviewing and posting these offers, but have had numerous problems with the presumed store coupons at Rite aid and Walgreens which are actually marked "manuf...coupons."

The manager @ Rite Aid on Thursday, and personnel at Walgreens have both told me they will accept one or the other, NOT BOTH!

So are some stores accepting 2 manuf. coupons??

It's so frustrating to prepare for the sale and then essentially leave it all on the table b/c it's not worth the price w/o 2 coupons.

My response:

I was out of town this past weekend, for my sister's wedding, and am just getting around to answering your comment.

No store will accept two TRUE manufacturer's coupons on the same item, however, the coupons that RA and Walgreens have in their ad are store coupons (even though they say "manufacturer's coupon"). There is no other store that will accept the coupons in the RA ad other than RA (or a grocery store that accepts competitors coupons). And per RA's coupon policy, they will accept 1 TRUE manufacturer's coupon and one RA coupon per item.

One of the ways that you can tell if a coupon is a TRUE manufacturer's coupon is that the bar code of such a coupon will always start with a 5 or a 9. Also, on the bottom of every RA coupon it will state "good only at Rite Aid Pharmacies." A TRUE manufacturer's coupon is good at any store that will accept coupons. If it is only good at one store then it is a store coupon.

So, why would it be called a manufacturer's coupon if in fact it is a store coupon? RA has worked out a deal with the manufacturer to offer their product at a lower rate, but rather than offer that product to everyone at that lower rate (ie. a sale) they have offered everyone the chance to take advantage of the lower rate by providing a coupon for the negotiated price. RA knows that not everyone who buys the product will use the coupon so they will make extra money off of those people. It is a method RA (and many other stores) use to make a little extra money.

RA registers will accept both coupons with no trouble. It sounds as if the managers in your area are ill informed as to the nature of the coupons. I would print out a copy of RA's coupon policy and take it with me to the store. I would also call RA's customer service number and explain the situation to them. Then I would put RA's customer service number in my cell phone and would kindly give them a call at the store if you have any other problems. (Remember, kindness about these situations goes a long way with managers and other personnel.)

I understand how frustrating it can be to have deals and scenarios all figured out and then not be able to complete them. I recently had a similar experience with my local grocery store. I kindly explained to the manager that I was under the impression that their corporate policy was different and asked if I could have the corporate office call them. The manager said that was fine (frankly, I don't think she knew quite what to say). I called corporate and nicely explained the situation and what my understanding of the policy was and they contacted my local store and straightened everything out. It was a happy resolution for me and I didn't offend anyone at the store in getting the situation resolved.

Not Again!

Well, I forgot my wedding anniversary again, how embarrassing. . . and this year is our 10th!! My husband's very proud of the fact that almost every year he remembers our anniversary first. This year, even though it was our 10th we were not able to do anything big (with me about to have a baby any day now). But Scott found a baby sitter for the two boys so he could spend the majority of the day just with me. Even though we were not able to do anything big, it was still so much fun just being out with my husband, like when we were dating, just the two of us. . . and no kids. : )

Walmart Deals 12/10/09

I ran out to Walmart last night to pick up a couple of items that they have for really, really cheap. (Note: Walmart's prices do differ from region to region and store to store.) Here's what I got:

Rite Aid's Diabetic Tote

I almost didn't request the diabetic tote from Rite Aid even though my purchases qualified me for it. . . but I'm glad I did. It came in the mail today. Besides being a sturdy bag (I think I'm going to make a large name label to cover the wording on the bag), it came with several samples and coupons. Below is a list of what comes with the tote:

.75 oz sample of Colgate Total Advanced Clean Plus Whitening
sample of Tylenol arthritis pain tablets
sample of Bayer aspirin tablets
sample of Halls Refresh
$0.50/1 Halls Refresh hard candy (exp. 5/31/10)
$1/1 Nature's Bounty product (exp. 3/31/10)
$0.55/1 Viactiv product (exp. 3/31/11)

Rite Aid 12/06 - 12/12

A couple of notes to start with:

  1. Make sure you know RiteAid'sCouponPolicy. Print out a copy to keep with you. This will be a great help when you get a cashier, or even a manager, who doesn't know the policy.

  2. Go to Rite Aid AdPerks to watch videos and earn Rite Aid coupons. You will be able to earn a $5/$20 Rite Aid coupon, as well as a coupon for each product for which you watch a video.

  3. Print out and take additional $5/$25 coupons and $5/$20 coupons with you. Remember, the $5/$20 coupon is only available after you watch enough AdPerks videos.

  4. And finally, don't forget about Rite Aid's Gift of Savings program that is running from 11/22/09 through 12/24/09. Spend $25-50 (after Rite Aid coupons and discounts, but before manufacturer's coupons), get $5 back. Spend $51-100, get $10 back. Spend over $100, get $20 back

All my scenarios will reflect my personal goal to either make money or at least not to have spent any - after I get my rebate check, Rite Aid gift cards, and/or Gift of Savings check back in the mail.

Giant Eagle Has New e-Offers!

Giant Eagle has gotten their e-offers up and running again. To load the e-offers to your store card just go to www.gianteagle.com/home and click on "save" and/or "savings." You will see the link for the e-offers.

E-offers can be used in combination with a manufacturer's coupon. Just purchase the item and the amount is automatically deducted from your total. Then scan your paper coupons like normal.

Note: Each e-offer can be used only once. However, the discount will be taken off of every qualifying purchase in that transaction. So if you buy 10 of the same item and there is a corresponding e-offer for that item, the discount will come off 10 times. However, if you break up your purchase into 2 transactions of 5 qualifying items each, the e-offer will only work on the first transaction of 5 items. No e-offer will apply to the second transaction. Any unused e-offers will stay on your card.

$5 Hallmark Coupon = FREE Items

Hallmark has a coupon out for $5 off any purchase of $5 or more. This coupon will print out twice per computer and it expires 12/24/09. Print your coupon here.

Rite Aid 11/29 - 12/5

I'm a little behind on getting my Rite Aid deals (or any deals for that matter) together for this week. I'll blame it on traveling. Here are items that come out FREE or really cheap. There is a Redbox located outside the Cranberry GE. I know that there are others around too, but haven't had the need to look for them as I frequent GE often enough.

Thanksgiving In Huntsville, AL

We had a wonderful time in Huntsville visiting with both my family and my husband's family. There were so many people there whom we hadn't seen since we got married 10 years ago . . . and some even longer than that.

On the trip down we put our free McDonald's mocha and hot chocolate coupons to good use along with the free Target ice tea coupons (http://www.steaz.com/promotion/FreeSteaz/index.html). The teas are really quite good by the way. I intended to go shopping (couponing) while I was there and had taken all my coupons for that specific purpose, but just didn't end up with enough time nor energy to accomplish that feat. I did get the opportunity to share my couponing adventure with several aunts, cousins, and sisters-in-law. Hopefully I didn't confuse them too much.

We arrived back home Saturday afternoon with one sick baby and one little boy who was going through cousin/playmate withdrawals. I am happy to report that both are recovering. : )

My Giant Eagle Trip 11/17/09

I was supposed to take Isaiah to his music class today, but his teacher was sick and class was canceled. . . so we went shopping instead. : )

I bought . . .

6 Daisy sour creams 16 oz. $1.50/1 - 6 $0.50/1 (11/15/SS) = $3/6

2 Lean Pockets 9 oz. $2/1 - 2 $0.75/1 (9/27/RP) = $1/2

6 Birds Eye bagged frozen veggies 16 oz. $1/1 - 6 $0.50/1 (11/15/SS) = FREE

4 Duncan Hines cake mixes $1/1 - 2 $55/2 (10/11/SS) = $1.80/4

6 Airwick Imotion starter kits $4.99/1 - 6 $5.00/1 (10/11/SS) = FREE or make $0.06/6

20 Purina Cheweez Dog sticks 1.8 oz. $1/1 - 5 $4/4 (11/15/SS) = FREE

2 Osteo Bioflex 50 ct. B1G1 $13.42/2 - 2 $7/1 (11/8/RP) = FREE or make $0.58/2

4 Ester-C 90 ct. B1G1 $8.98/2 - 4 $5/1 (10/4/RP and 11/8/RP) = FREE or make $2.04/4

(I had the boys with me, so I was unable to keep as close an eye on how things rung up and on top of that I didn't get my receipt. So now, I'm stuck knowing that I payed more than I should have . . . but I don't know that there is anything I can do about it . . . not having my receipt. I do know that the manager came over and keyed in all the coupons that were over the purchase price of the item for the full amount of the coupon.)

Total = $7.33 (should have been $3.12 - I would have used a $2 CAT and payed $1.12 OOP)

Minus $6 in CATs that I had earned on previous purchases

Total OOP = $1.33

I also picked up 3 rainchecks.

Marcel Small Step Drawstring Napkins 50 ct. $2.69/1
Raincheck for 6 - 6 coupons for FREE napkins up to $2.80/1 = 6 FREE napkins

Osteo Bioflex 50 ct. $13.42/1 (B1G1 sale = $13.42/2)
Raincheck for 2 - 2 coupons for $7/1 = FREE or make $0.58/2

Raincheck for 4 - 1 coupon for $4/4 = FREE

Josiah's 1st Birthday

Josiah turns 1 today. I can't believe that he is already a whole year old. His big brother is so happy for him. He keeps singing happy birthday, over and over. We are going to do something small for Josiah's birthday today, and hopefully we can do something a little bigger when we are with family over Thanksgiving.
