Pittsburgh Area Fresh Produce Picks: September 22-27

Because of all the "stuff" that has gone on with my family this year . . . my garden is pitiful.  : )  So, I decided to try price matching at WALMART!  So far it has been working wonderfully!!  It couldn't be any easier.  : )

(NOTE: Make sure you pay attention to the Walmart prices! Sometimes they are cheaper than any of the grocery stores.)

Steps to a smooth transaction:
1. Tell the cashier up front that you will be price matching the fresh produce.
2. Lay out each ad that you will be using on the belt (with the advertised produce side facing up).
3. Place the produce on top of the corresponding ad.
4. Cashier picks up the produce and the ad to match at the same time.

Once again, I put together a spreadsheet listing all the fresh produce in the ads (the ones that I have - Giant Eagle, Shop 'n Save, Aldi, Foodland, Khun's, Save a Lot, and BiLo) this week. I've listed out all the prices for the produce so that you can easily see which store has that item advertised and where it is the cheapest. You can then either shop the store(s) of your choice or you can take your whole stack of ads to Walmart and have them price match the lowest advertised prices for all the items.
(NOTE: If you didn't recieve the above ads in the mail, just print off the add from the linked websites above and take that into Walmart. As long as the sale dates show up on the print out, Walmart will honor the ad. Also, make sure that you do not print any of the ads before they officially begin in the stores as most of the time the ads are not posted/updated on the stores' websites until the day the items go on sale in the store.)

Produce Picks Sept. 22-27

By the way, I'm open to adding more stores if anyone wants to either volunteer, suggest a store, and/or figure out how to get me an ad for that store.

Fresh Produce: July 21-26

Because of all the "stuff" that has gone on with my family this year . . . my garden is pitiful.  : )  So, I decided to try price matching at WALMART!  I went yesterday morning with my spreadsheet and my ads (I made a spread sheet for last week that I didn't post). It worked like a charm. Sometimes Walmart prices were cheaper than any of the grocery stores and sometimes they weren't. I loved feeling like I was getting the best possible deal.  : )  All I did was walk up to the cashier with my spreadsheet and ads in hand. I told the cashier that I wanted to price match the fresh produce. I put each ad (that I was going to use) on the belt and placed the produce that was in that ad on top of it. This made the price matching super easy as I didn't have to sort through a pile of ads for each new item.

I put together a spreadsheet listing all the fresh produce in the ads this week, as well as all the ads that I have access too (Giant Eagle, Shop 'n Save, Aldi, Foodland, Khun's, Save a Lot, and BiLo). I've listed out all the prices for the produce so that you can easily see which store has that item advertised and where it is the cheapest. You can then either shop the store(s) of your choice or you can take your whole stack of ads to Walmart and have them price match the lowest advertised prices for all the items (which is what I did). Just make sure that if you go to Walmart, you keep your eyes open as sometimes the Walmart price is better than any of the advertised prices.

Giant Eagle: Coupon Matchups 5/26 to 6/1

  • Giant Eagle's ad runs from Thursday to Wednesday.
  • My GE doubles all coupons up to $0.99.
  • Don't forget to load your GE card with Giant Eagle's EOffers and with e-coupons from Shortcuts and Cellfire. (If the same coupon is on more than one site, only load one at a time. After you have redeemed/used the first coupon, then go back and load the next. If you load both to your card, you will loose one of them. Also, don't load more than 45 eCoupons/eOffers to your card.  For some reason your card will malfunction when there are more than 45 eCoupons on it at any one time.)
  • Be careful with the CAT deals. If you do two of the same CAT deals in the same transaction, the CAT may not print. Check your ad to make sure that you separate like CAT deals into separate transactions.
  • Remember, you can order coupons that you don't have from a CouponClippingService.
