I haven't been to the grocery store in several weeks due to being sick. The good thing was that my fridge, freezer, and pantry were well stocked from coupon shopping and my garden, so we had plenty to eat. But after almost 3 weeks, we had made a significant dent in parts of the stockpile.
Now, I almost feel bad for posting this . . . since I know that I didn't post any Giant Eagle deals this past week due to being sick. But, I obviously don't feel badly enough about it . . . 'cause I'm posting it. : )
Anyway, I spent Wednesday trying to figure out the deals and get my coupons in order to go to Giant Eagle. Since the ad ends on Wednesday, I knew that I HAD to get out if I wanted any of those deals - I did want them!
I dropped my oldest son off at Awana and headed for the store. It had to be just a quick trip since I needed to be back to pick Isaiah up from Awana. I only got half of my items, but no big deal. My husband was going to be home soon and he said that he could watch the boys while I ran back to the store to pick up the remaining items. I put my boys to bed and then got the call from my husband. He was not going to be home for several more hours. If I wanted the remaining items, I was going to have to get the boys out of bed and take them with me. Yes, I wanted the rest of the stuff (I hadn't gotten any cheese or hot dogs yet). So I drug my boys out of bed, much to their delight and off we went.
One thing that I do appriciate about shopping at Giant Ealge at 11pm is that there is nobody in the store! My boys can sing, mess around, and just be little boys and no one cares. : ) The other advantage, is that the shelves have been newly restocked (or are in the process of being restocked) and I have every option available to me.
So how well did I do? Well, I got everything below for about $30. Shelf price was around $250!! And I picked up 4 rainchecks for 4 pks each 16 oz. Oscar Mayer Bologna (after coupons and CAT, this should run me around $0.15/pk)
AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, girl!

ReplyDeleteMichelle and Challice,
ReplyDeleteThank you gals so much! It's good to be back. I hated missing all those deals.
Erin
Nice haul there.... and thanks for the tip on GE at 11pm. I should try that sometime.
ReplyDeleteI see you found coupons for the Hamburger Helper! How many transactions did you do? :-)
ReplyDelete: ) I did 7 different transactions. I did make two separate trips to GE, so 3 transactions the first trip and 4 the second.
ReplyDeleteDid you get any Hamburger Helper?
Erin
Only 6 Hamburger Helper. Like I said, mom went, so I didn't get as many transactions done as I would have liked to. Oh well, next week...
ReplyDeleteWhat is that next to the bag of cheese in the white, brown and red square bag?
ReplyDeleteIt's rice . . . 13 lbs. of rice.
ReplyDeleteI see Chinese Fried Rice in your future... ;)
ReplyDeleteOooh, that's a good idea. I would have not thought of that. I need to start asking you guy's advice on these things. I think I start to get into food ruts a little too easily. The ruts don't really bother me, but when someone else starts giving me ideas - I recognize the rut for what it is. My greatest problem getting out of the rut once I figure out that I'm in it, is new ideas that fit into my budget. : )
ReplyDeleteBut I think that Chinese Fried Rice just might fit in very well!
