Very Best of the Best Deals 8/29 - 9/4

To tell you the truth, I'm not quite sure what to call this post. (Please help me out - leave a comment with your sugguestions.) This post is the brain child of Cindy of TheQHunter. In an effort to drum up some more business, she's asked different bloggers to post the best deals that they can find (for any stores that they cover). She's then provided a link to her shop where you can order that very coupon in the event that you don't already have it or that you desire more. I personally think that this is brilliant. Not only does it make it super easy for me to order coupons (Cindy understands that the deals are for this week only, so you need your coupons FAST!), but I also love being able to provide my readers with deals for stores that I don't normally cover. (And a heads up, 1 Faithful Steward will be the featured blog with the deals for the week of Sept. 19th!)

If you have never ordered from Cindy before, you can get 20% off your first coupon order by entering the Promotion Code "20offFirst" at checkout!

Very Best of the Best Deals
for 8/29 - 9/4

I’m Kristie from Gracefully Saving. Earlier this year I ventured into blogging with the goal of saving others as much money using coupons as I have been blessed to do. I was constantly emailing friends and family and telling others about deals.

I enjoy finding deals and sharing them others. It’s truly rewarding to go into the grocery store and see and meet people that are saving money using coupons! Sometimes I just can’t help my self so I tell people in the store, “Hey, if you buy 3 of these (instead of the 2 they have in their cart) you’ll get a OYNO for $$”.

Join me on Facebook, Twitter and sign up for my daily email feeds so you don’t miss a deal!

Rite Aid Deals and Transaction Scenarios 8/29 - 9/4

A couple of notes to start with:
  1. Make sure you know RiteAid'sCouponPolicy. Print out a copy to keep with you. This will be a great help when you get a cashier, or even a manager, who doesn't know the policy.
  2. Go to Rite Aid AdPerks to watch videos and earn Rite Aid Video Value coupons. You will be able to earn a $5/$25 Rite Aid coupon, as well as a coupon for each product for which you watch a video. While there does not appear to be a limit as to how many Video Values accounts you can have per address, your Wellness+ card will remember which coupons you have used (VV coupons with long barcodes only). You will only be allowed to use 1 coupon (with long barcode) per Wellness+ card per month. Once a coupon with a long barcode has been used, it can not be used again, not even on another Wellness+ card (it will beep at the register and say that it has already been redeemed). If you have a Video Value account and your husband has one too, then you are going to need two Wellness+ cards (one for him and one for you) in order to be able to use all the coupons.
  3. Remember to still print extra of the Video Values coupons with the short barcodes. (Rite Aid Video Values only allows you to choose to print the coupon one time. You can not go back and choose to print it again later. That being said, when you originally choose to print the coupon a print screen will pop up. On that print screen it has a place for you to type in how many times you want the page printed. (NOTE that the coupon is good for 2 months.) While all the Video Values coupons will print more than once. Some have a unique barcode that will only allow you to use the coupons once. Others can still be used more than once. The rule is - long barcode = only 1 use; short barcode = multiple uses.) For more information, please read my post HERE.
  4. Rite Aid rolled out their new program Wellness+ nationwide. If you haven't already done so, sign up for your rewards card online or in stores. You may also wish to consider getting your husband a Wellness+ card too. Starting August 1st all +UP Rewards will be tied to your Wellness+ card. There will be a limit of 1 +UP Reward per card per week (unless otherwise stated). If you have trouble getting the +UP Rewards to print, give RA a call. They are reimbursing the +UP Rewards that should have printed:
    Public Relations Dept.
    Rite Aid Corporation
    Camp Hill, PA
    Office: (717) 975-5713
    eharkreader@riteaid.com (Eric Harkreader)
  5. Print out EXTRA $5/$25Coupons (Thanks to Debbie!). They are good for the entire month of August! These Expire 8-31-10!

All my scenarios will reflect my personal goal to either make money or at least not to have spent any at the end of the month - after I get my Single Check Rebate, Rite Aid gift cards, and/or MIR checks.

**Unless otherwise indicated, there is a limit of one single check rebate per item.

This is the first week to earn September's SCRs! And there are new Video Value coupons to earn!

I'm not quite sure what to say about this week yet. Last week kind of overwhelmed me. I'll have to wait to see about this week.

CVS Deals and Transaction Scenarios 8/29 - 9/4

I started putting together scenarios in July after talking with a friend who insisted that you could shop at CVS for FREE after an initial $25 investment. If this was true, it would work well with my budget. : ) So I decided to give it a try.

Step 1: Buy a $25 CVS gift card. (This helps you to see how much of your initial investment money you've spent.) Tip: If you have to actually buy your $25 gift card, buy it from somewhere that gives you rewards for your purchase (your local grocery store perhaps, Upromise, MyPoints). (I'm a member of MyPoints which allows you to earn pts. for looking at advertisements, among other things. It's slow going, but it doesn't cost me any money. I look at one or two a day and wait for my pts. to accumulate. When I have enough I can redeem them for gift cards. So, to jump start my CVS shopping I redeemed some of my pts. for a $25 gift card.)

Step 2: Get a CVS ExtraCare card (ask for one in the store) and a CVS Green Bag Tag. The tags cost about $1. Hook that tag around any reusable shopping bag (it can even be a plastic CVS bag from a previous purchase) and remember to take it with you to CVS. Every time you go in and make a purchase be sure to have the cashier scan your tag. (Your card will only record 1 scan per day.) You will earn $1 ECB every 4th time the tag is scanned. : ) (Your Green Bag Tag can be used with any CVS ExtraCare card. So the next time you go CVS shopping with a friend, let them use your tag too. Both your card and your friend's card will record one scan.)

Step 3: Clip/gather your coupons and get ready to go shopping. If this is your first trip to CVS you will not have the ECBs to pay for purchase #1. That's okay. This is where you will want to use your $25 gift card to pay for your purchases.

Note: CVS will not accept any internet coupon with a barcode that does NOT scan.

This looks to be a slow week again at CVS. I'll try to get by there early this week. I'm waiting to see what the CRT coupons will be (those are the coupons that print when you scan your card at the big red box.) If there's a $/$$ coupon in the mix, then I'll have to come back and put another transaction together.

Another thing that I have noticed is that CVS tends to be continually out of ECB items.  : )  (I know some of you are thinking . . . "You just noticed. . . "  Don't forget that I have three little kids to keep track of. Sometimes the non-kid stuff just escapes me.) I'm finding that for the most part I'm not able to follow my own scenarios. (I know that at RA I sometimes also have this trouble, but not as often - at least not every scenario. And when it happens at RA it's easy enough to substitute something else into the scenario. At CVS, a lot of times, that ECB item IS the scenario. Anyway, I will probably be changing up the way I put together the weekly CVS posts. I'm going to think on it this week. If anyone has any comments, requests, or suggestions let me know. I'd love to hear what you guys want or think.

EXTRA NOTES:
I'm not going to put this into a scenario for 1 main reason: If you shop RA (and most of you do), then you probably already have a mountain of these that you have gotten for FREE. But for those of you who don't shop Rite Aid, here's the deal: (And for those of you who are new to couponing, you are allowed to use only 1 MFC per item. You can not use 2 MFC on the same item. When using a B1G1 coupon, that coupon only applies to the item you are getting free. You have to buy the other item to be allowed to use the coupon on the free item. That is why you are allowed to use a separate MFC on the item that you are "buying." You would not be allowed to use a B1G1 coupon with a coupon for $1/2 - because you would need to buy 2 to get $1 off. You could, however, buy 3 items and use both coupons.)

4 Oral-B Manual Toothbrush (pg. 12) 1 pk. (psa $2.99/1) (Look for Oral-B Advantage) $3.79/1 = $15.16/4
- 2 B1G1 Oral-B Manual Brush Single Pack, exp. 9-30-10 (RP 08/15/10) = $7.58/4
- 2 $1/1 Select Oral-B Products, exp. 8-31-10 (P&G 08/01/10) = $5.58/4
- $5 ECB wyb $10 (Limit 2) = $0.58/4 ($0.15/1)

And, keep saving those SoBe coupons! The B1G1 deal will be back on 9/5/10 to 9/11/10 (next week!).

2 Sobe Water B1G1 = $1.69/2 ?
-B1G1 free coupon Printable (play the game) = FREE
(Remember that a B1G1 coupon with a B1G1 sale = 2 FREE)
(You can play the game once per day. Then print each coupon twice! If you play every day, you should be able to earn enough B1G1 coupons for a lot of FREE SoBe's!)

Rite Aid Nature’s Bounty Flex-a-min Coupon

And there is another current RA coupon out there. . .

$3/1 Any Nature’s Bounty Flex-a-min Product Printable

And, all Nature's Bounty are B1G1 this week! So this should make for a good deal!

If anyone is wondering where the scenarios are for CVS and Rite Aid . . . they're coming. I kind of fell asleep this afternoon after church (yes, I need rest too) and well . . .  you can see where that's gotten me.  : )  But don't expect them until very, very late tonight. For some reason my family seems to want to eat now. (You know, if they would just stop eating, I'd sure get a lot more done. He, he.)

Fun for the Boys on the Cheap

I'm going to be teaching Isaiah at home this year (he'll be in K4). Yesterday we received a large box in the mail with supplies for the school year. (Isaiah's birthday was earlier this month, and we had a box from then too.) Anyway, we broke out the construction paper that has been sitting around the house for about a year or two and the glue sticks and tape from Rite Aid (purchased earlier this month). I showed Isaiah how to make the wheels and the lights. He made the little car that Josiah is in all by himself! (Pretty good for 4 years old - but I'm just a proud momma. - An 8 year old friend made the car that Isaiah's driving.)
So, for about basically free (the construction paper was bought neither with coupons, nor on sale, but was the cheap generic kind - however, we only used a few pages and have almost all of it left) my boys were entertained for hours (both making and playing with the cars). And I got to spend some fun quality time with my boys.

Josiah is a little too young to help out with the making of the cars. He enjoyed just being a part of all the activity. The older boys (Isaiah and 8 yr. old friend) would give him their paper scraps and he happily colored them. I also gave him a page with old address labels on it - "stickers." As you can see, he thought that was great.

UPromise and Rite Aid

I found this very exciting . . . (don't laugh)  But as of right now, Rite Aid is a UPromise affiliate! That means that every time we shop at Rite Aid (and buy participating products), companies will give us money for our children's education!! Yeah, more FREE stuff - money. Granted, I understand that this will not be a lot of money, but it's something. And you and I are going to be shopping at RA anyway . . . we might as well just get the extra $0.02 for our trouble. (So, the reason I'm excited. . . I make money at RA every week and now I'm going to make even more - for my kids future education!)

Also, don't forget that UPromise has what they call e-coupons. On the first of every month they release a new set of e-coupons. You must go into UPromise and activate them to your account. Then when you buy one of those products - at a UPromise affiliate store (Rite Aid, CVS, Giant Eagle, etc.) - the manufactures will deposit the amount of the e-coupon into your UPromise account.

Remember that if you don't have kids yet, you just put yourself as the recipient of the money. The money can be redistributed later. Or, if your kids are all grown up, ask your kids to set up a UPromise account for your grandkids. Then ask them to send you and invitation and you will be able to allocate your UPromise rewards to your grandkids.

UPromise is FREE, so sign up. Enter in your Rite Aid Wellness+ card number, your CVS ExtraCare card number, and your local grocery store card number (if you have one). Activate all your e-coupons. Then go shop for FREE at Rite Aid or CVS and let the manufactures pay you for "buying" their products!!   : )

End of the Month - Print Coupons

This has been a busy month for us. Isaiah (my eldest) turned 4 and we took our very first "just for fun" family vacation . . . with kids. (I was not under any delusional notion that this was going to be a real vacation for me, more like just a change from the normal routine . . . with extra work tacked on to get everyone back into their routine when the trip was over. He, he.) We did get to see some of my family - which was wonderful - and got to do some fun things with the kids. Debbie was also vacationing with her family part of the month, so we played tag with posting responsibilities. (Debbie is back on vacation at the moment.)
My garden is producing many, many tomatoes (did I mention that I have 30 tomato plants). This is one of the ways that I can help my family save money on fresh produce. I am also able to can/freeze things so that we'll have them all winter long. The okra, green beans, and eggplant are also at the top of their game right now. I'm getting ready to put in lettuce (the radishes are already in) for a fall crop.
But just in case it sounds like I am superwoman and have everything under control . . . I don't. The grass outside is deep. . . let's just say that it is much longer than that of the neighbors.  : )  Our lawn mower is giving us lots of trouble this year. Every time my husband goes out to mow the lawn, he'll get around a portion of the lawn a couple of times (we have over an acres to mow) and then he'll have to stop and fix something on it. He hasn't been able to get the whole lawn mowed at once all summer. Earlier this month, I was supposed to use the push mower to try to mow the little portion of our lawn, where the kids play, but just haven't gotten to it yet. (It was too hot to play much outside and then we went on vacation.) And my wonderful garden that I keep mentioning . . . is full of grass at the moment. I was keeping it weed free - until we had the flea infestation (don't ask me how we got fleas in the house . . . I don't know . . . we have NEVER had that problem ever, ever before) in the carpet of our house. I spent all my time trying to keep my kids flea bite free and off the carpet (I carried - yes, all three of them - everywhere); then I spent the rest of my time trying to get rid of the fleas (we tried salt, borax, vacuuming - like every single day, the whole house, and Raid spray). Everything reduced their numbers, but none did the trick once and for all. Although Raid came pretty close. We still find a flea here and there (like once or twice a week) in some corner of the house and we pull out that bottle of Raid. . . BUT WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS!!

The end of the month means it's time to print any coupons you may want . . .

  • Coupon sites will reset their coupons with the beginning of the month. Many will be pulled down and new ones will take their place. Check out Coupons.comRedPlum.com, and Smartsource.com to view the current coupons and print out any you want before it's too late.

  • If you haven't finished watching the Rite Aid videos for August, you only have until midnight of the 28th to do so (that's this Saturday!). Remember that these coupons do not expire until Sept 25th, so you still have time to use them, but after the 28th you will no longer be able to earn the August coupons. And per Rite Aid's coupon policy, Rite Aid coupons can be combined with manufacturer’s coupons for even greater savings. Simply log onto RiteAidVideoValues to earn your coupons. (NOTE: You do not have to print the August VV coupons. As long as you have watched the videos, they will not disappear. I do not print out my VV coupons until I am going to use them so as to avoid wasting paper and ink.)

Giant Eagle Deals and Coupon Matchups 8/26 - 9/1

Here are the highlights for this week. If you see any other fantastic deals, let me know.

  • Giant Eagle's ad runs from Thursday to Wednesday.
  • My GE doubles all coupons up to $0.99.
  • Don't forget to load your GE card with Giant Eagle's EOffers and with e-coupons from Shortcuts and Cellfire. (If the same coupon is on more than one site, only load one at a time. After you have redeemed/used the first coupon, then go back and load the next. If you load both to your card, you will loose one of them.)
  • Be careful with the CAT deals. If you do two of the same CAT deals in the same transaction, the CAT may not print. Check your ad to make sure that you separate like CAT deals into separate transactions.
  • Remember, you can order coupons that you don't have from a CouponClippingService.

These are the Giant Eagle deals that I see this week: (Obviously, anything that is FREE is a great deal.)

This is still very much in-progress!! Please check back Thursday night for a complete list of deals.
